Hockey Wins!!!

Our hockey team won their first round game at UW-Superior last night in overtime, 3-2. The game winner was scored by Chris Benenguer, who was just named MIAC Player of the Year.

Yep, that's right, Hamline has 3 of the 4 Players of the Year for winter sports in the MIAC (I don't think Swimming and Diving or Track have that award). Certainly a first for Hamline and maybe a first for the MIAC (could be totally off base on that one).

The Pipers will travel to take on St. Norbert on Saturday for the right to get to the Frozen Four at Ritter Arena on the campus of University of Minnesota. I believe it is where the women Gophers play.

  1. Great win for them. They got a raw deal by having to play at Superior the other night but the MIAC has been getting kicked in the teeth for a long time by the NCAA in men's hockey. Glad to see they were able to overcome it. It would be great for the MIAC if HU could break through to the NCAA semis for the first time in a few years. SNC can be had. Both Gustavus and St. Thomas have won playoff games there in recent years. Wins at this stage of the year are twofers - great for the team and great for the league.
